A Brief History of Maisie Jane's California Sunshine Products
Maisie Jane Hurtado was born into Bertagna family, which has been growing almonds in Butte County for four generations. Maisie Jane began experimenting with almond roasting in her teens. She started the business as a Future Farmers of America project in high school, which grew into a thriving business of specialty roasted and flavored nuts and nut butter under the iconic Maisie Jane’s brand.
All of this can be experienced at the company’s hometown storefront in Chico, where the Bertagna family’s almond farming legacy lives in earth- and bee-friendly products grown in Butte County’s fertile farmland.
