Feather River Fish Hatchery
The Feather River Hatchery raises Chinook salmon and steelhead along the Feather River, just below Lake Oroville. Visitors can watch migrating salmon from mid-September to mid-November or spawning steelhead from mid December through mid-February through an underwater viewing window. With fish present in the rearing ponds all year, visitors will enjoy their time at Feather River Hatchery any time of year.
The hatchery is open for self-guided tours all year long, but for the best experience, schedule a guided tour.
The Different Sections
The Feather River Fish Hatchery is divided into 2 sections:
- The fish barrier dam, observation platform and underwater viewing are located on the east side of Table Mountain Boulevard
- The spawning room, hatchery and rearing ponds are located on the west side of Table Mountain Boulevard
